About MEAGmove

MEAGmove is a project based company that utilizes the talents of local New York City freelance dancers.

The mission of MEAGmove is to foster a great sense of community within rehearsals and performances, and to make every process enjoyable, fulfilling, and worthwhile. We also strive to add a new source of networking through connections our dancers make with each other.

MEAGmove's belief is that the key to a successful product on stage starts with a good group moral and an understanding of the common vision of what we are trying to achieve throughout the entire process.

We study movement ideas based around weight, momentum, and counterbalance to achieve the most honest portrayal of what it means to be a human being.

About Meagan Ahern

A San Francisco Bay Area Native, Meagan Ahern first began her dance training at Menlo Park Academy of Dance and Ruth Asawa School of the Arts. She then continued her training at The Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College SUNY as a Composition Concentration where she performed works by Merce Cunningham, Anna Sokolow, Dexandro “D” Montalvo, Sarah Oppenheim and more. She graduated with a BFA from SUNY Purchase CoD in May 2019. Meagan is also a graduate in the Licentiate Royal Academy of Dance program in London, trained as a certified ballet teacher under the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus. She also received additional training from programs such as Alonzo King Lines Ballet, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, and the Henny Jurriens Foundation in Amsterdam where she participated in repertory workshops from Hofesh Shechter, Akram Khan, Crystal Pite, Jiri Kylian, Peeping Tom, to name a few.

Since founding MEAGmove in 2019, she has shown work at the Ailey Citigroup Theater, Triskelion Arts, Abrons Art Center, and virtually.
